  • History

Founded in 1933 on the banks of the Toms River in Pine Beach, New Jersey, Admiral Farragut Academy was a college preparatory, military-style school named after Admiral David Glasgow Farragut, the first U.S. Naval officer to rise to that rank. During Farragutโ€™s first 12 years, the school became so popular that a second campus was purchased in 1945 on the shores of Boca Ciega Bay in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Did anyone else watch the USF vs. Illinois game on Friday night? ESPN ran a recruiting profile for USF and they highlighted Farragut senior and football and baseball student-athlete Zion Roland. Just as they mentioned Zion, the cameras flashed to a conference between USF Head Coach Charlie Strong and AFA grad Craig Watts. A cool moment for AFA! ๐Ÿˆโš“๏ธ #FarragutAthletics #FarragutFootball Zion was also profiled in the @scout article "Charlie Strong Gets His Guy in Crafty 2018 WR Zion Roland" which you can read at this link

Our grandchildren attend Admiral Farragut Academy. I have loved that school since I first toured it with my son and daughter-in-law. I feel that my grandsons are getting an excellent education and have many opportunities to excel in areas they love. I have attended many functions at this school and am always amazed at how polite and respectful the students are. It's heart warming!

Graduated from Farragut in 1981, after 7 years (part of the first 6th grade class at the academy). I enjoyed my entire time there and made some friendships that have remained to this day. The discipline and academic standards were and still are the foundation of the school and are what make Admiral Farragut Academy the jewel that it is. I was proud to be a student then and proud to be an alumnus today.

My brother Mike and his wife Valerie were both teachers at Farragut. My brother was also the basketball coach for many years. I fell in love with the school the first time I strolled around campus. Excellent education and great school for teaching life's principles.

Without a doubt AFA is the finest military prep school period. I was headed down the road of nothing but trouble and heartaches, but AFA molded this young man into a man all could be proud of. Thank you! Jay Kaiser 1968

Farragut is by far the best and finest place a parent could possibly enroll their child. The educators are top notch and the college placement rate is superb. Check it out. I graduated in 1975 from this school and it was the best experience on how to face life. This school is beyond description. I cannot rate them any higher.

I had to sail the gorgeous Boca Ciega Bay as part of my curriculum to graduate, and study under palm trees - poor me! :) I wouldn't trade my experience at AFA for anything in the world! Proud to be a Bluejacket!
