Mission: To inspire young men to strive for academic excellence, build strong character, and reach their highest potential as future responsible citizens and ethical leaders in a global community.

C arson Long is a small school that focuses on their family atmosphere. CLMA has a deep history of helping academically struggling young men to learn how to study and to achieve. They do this through not just Academics, but Character Building and Leadership. Once a young man starts working on developing his character and becoming a leader, his sees himself as someone who achieves.

Choose the harder right, instead of the easier wrong.

Weekly Chapel Services are held in the Holman Chapel. The faculty take turns in running the chapel program. They read a portion of Scripture of their choice, lead songs, and give a short talk about character building, leadership, morality, and life skills using Biblical and current events.

  • JROTC
    Carson Long JROTC

All high school cadets take the JROTC classes where they are motivated to be better citizens. JROTC is a unique class as it teaches a broad range of academic skills such as: study skills, communication, leadership, management, resume writing/career search techniques, and citizenship. It also prepares students by teaching life skills such as: problem solving and time management, race relations, drug and alcohol abuse prevention, personal fitness through proper diet and exercise, map reading, orienteering, and military drill. JROTC also provides several competitive teams.

A unique approach to leadership training at Carson Long is the Serve-to-Lead Program. All cadets are given time on Wednesdays to participate in Community Service or work on their Service Learning Projects via the JROTC Department. Selfless service is a core value of great leaders throughout history and cadets are given plenty of opportunities to volunteer and help others.

In Memorium: Matthew LaPorte 1986-2007

Carson Long is proud to honor one of its own on this Easter Sunday, Matthew LaPorte ’05.

During his six years at Carson Long, Matthew LaPorte was a great example for others as a cadet and scholar, and served as the Drum Corps Commander during his senior year.

After he left Carson Long, he enrolled at Virginia Tech and was a member of the Corps of Cadets, participating in Air Force ROTC. On the fateful morning of April 16, 2007, Matthew LaPorte gave the ultimate sacrifice in attempting to stop the shooter of the Virginia Tech Massacre.

In 2015, he was honor posthumously with the Airman’s Medal for his bravery that day. His family accepted the award for his heroism in helping to save lives in his classroom in 2007.

Each year at Commencement, Carson Long honors Matthew LaPorte by presenting the Matthew J. LaPorte Memorial Scholarship to the cadet who puts the well-being of others before himself, models what needs to be done, and exemplifies “deeds not words.”

Please join us in remembering Matthew LaPorte and all of the victims of the 2007 Virginia Tech Massacre on its 10th anniversary today.

Blood Drive on Campus

Yesterday, Carson Long hosted a blood drive for the American Red Cross in the Kate Carson Gymnasium. CLMA’s goal for donations was between 14 and 19 pints, and with the help of cadets, faculty, and members of the community, 14 pints of blood were donated.

Several new student donors helped us to reach our goal, as well as several steadfast members of the community who have supported CLMA blood drives since 2014.

Special thanks to the community members for supporting our efforts, as well as CDTs Long, Yourth, and Berkovich. In addition, LT Ammon was the faculty member in charge of the event, as well as Mrs. Pio.

Thank you all for your support!

The spring weather on campus today is amazing, with temperatures in the low 80s and bright sun.

The dull and gray of winter is being replaced with vivid purples, greens, and yellows!

Helping Others in the Community

Last week, senior JROTC cadets from the LET 4 class traveled to Landisburg, Pennsylvania to participate in a community service project to help a military veteran clean up his property which was recently vandalized.

The property owner was most grateful for our assistance and the cadets represented the school and themselves well.

LET 4 is a high-level leadership development course that is the culmination of a four-year cadet's JROTC experience, and includes great opportunities to work with the local community through service and outreach.

Well done, gentlemen!

Congratulations to MAC Conference Player of the Year DaVon Ralliford

The 2016-17 Carson Long basketball season was one for the record books, and one that will not be soon forgotten. The team and coaches gathered at Lin Buffet in Mechanicsburg to celebrate the team’s individual and group successes.

At 15-7 overall, the Warriors won the MAC conference for the first time in school history by posting a 4-2 conference regular season record, and 2-0 post season tally that saw them beat St. Joseph’s Catholic Academy for the first time ever for the conference crown 61-49 on February 18, 2017.

Senior forward DaVon Ralliford had a monster season for the Warriors, posting 313 points and a scorching 16.5 points per game mark. For his hard work, he was named MAC Conference Player of the Year for 2016-17 as voted by the MAC’s head coaches.

In addition, sophomore forward Brandon Osafo was named to the All-League team and sophomore guard AJ Migiliarini received honorable mention for his contribution to the team.

The team would like to express its appreciation for the generosity and support of alumni, families, and friends of Carson Long after the MAC conference championship. Because of the generosity of the donors, a new 2017 championship banner will be raised in the gym, and the team received customized, embroidered navy blue shooting shirts that display their last name and number on the front, and MAC Conference 2017 Champs on the back.

Congratulations again on an incredible season, we look forward to the next chapter in 2017-18!
